Root beer does have natural origins. It also reminds me of birch beer, with a very similar aroma...which has the chemical methyl salicylate in it, the same chemical responsible for the wintergreen aroma. Methyl salicylate occurs naturally in the tea leaf too. So I can see the root beer and tea flavor naturally blending well with each other. I wrote about this a while ago, in my post wintergreen tones in black tea, if you'd be interested in the full explanation!Alex Zorachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08335878680429494039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732204343630518234.post-5394290499522024122012-06-25T09:24:51.377-04:002012-06-25T09:24:51.377-04:00This sounds like the kind of blend I would like. ...This sounds like the kind of blend I would like. I was much more impressed with the other teas I tried from them. I liked their Kukicha better.

Upton Tea Imports has been hit or miss on green teas. I do think black teas, specifically, black teas from India, are their strength, but I have tried a number of outstanding Chinese green teas from them for very low prices. But I've also tried a handful of teas that struck me as mediocre, and even a few that I would not wish to drink at all.

In a bizarre, unexpected twist, Upton does sell a China-grown Gyokuro which was quite passable, really not bad, an an outright steal for its price. Whereas I thought their Chinese sencha and kukicha were pretty terrible. And I've tried a handful of green teas from Upton that were among my favorite green teas that I've ever sampled. Like I said, very hit-or-miss.

But my opinion may differ from that of others!Alex Zorachhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08335878680429494039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732204343630518234.post-46811837275147722662012-01-13T00:54:10.993-05:002012-01-13T00:54:10.993-05:00@Apple_Bonker I am so glad you found the review us...@Apple_Bonker I am so glad you found the review useful, i hope you love yours!AmazonVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10703817443910964893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4732204343630518234.post-72006756291806859342012-01-12T16:06:01.581-05:002012-01-12T16:06:01.581-05:00Great review.
