It was naturally sweet, and only slightly vegetal. I wanted to try a Hojicha, and i like vanilla. It's not bad but it's not really something that I want to make again.

I purchased this at a tea shop inside of a grocery store in New Jersey.

Refrigerate after opening, seriously?

Rating: 2/4 leaves

Leaf system:
1=Bleh! not again if it were free
2=Acceptable, if it were free or there were limited other tea options
3=I might purchase this tea from time to time, or select it while out
4=A staple in our cupboard from now on, I will purchase and keep purchasing

Although I find the idea of a flavored hojicha somewhat intriguing, this combination just doesn't sound appealing to me. I could perhaps see how it would work, because vanilla flavoring goes well with coffee, which also has a roasted aroma, but I can't imagine vanilla blending with the tea-aspects of hojicha.

This is my first hojicha so i was not sure what to expect. I love the scent and taste of vanilla so I was hoping it would make it a better introduction to the tea for me. I put vanilla in american-chai, black tea, ice cream :) everything I can.
