Perennial Tea Room Loose Leaf Black Tea 'Makaibari Estate 2010 First Flush Darjeeling'

Tea Information:
Tea: Makaibari Estate 2010 First Flush Darjeeling
Type: Black Tea
Packaging: Loose Leaf
Company: Perennial Tea Room
Purchase: I did not see this blend on their website

Steep Information:
Amount: 2 heaping tsp
Water: 500ml filtered water 212°F
Tool: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker BTM800XL
Steep Time: 2 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: light slightly vegetal black
Steeped Tea Smell: delicate citrus, floral, black
Flavor: sweet, toasty black tea
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: astringent, toasty
Liquor: translucent orange-brown

Too delicate for a morning tea, but simply delicious for sipping. It has this light, sweet quality to it that is refreshing and relaxing. I am very glad I was able to pick this tea up.

This was purchased at the NW Tea Festival.

My review of the festival

Rating: 3/4 leaves

Leaf system:
1=Bleh! not again if it were free
2=Acceptable, if it were free or there were limited other tea options
3=I might purchase this tea from time to time, or select it while out
4=A staple in our cupboard from now on, I will purchase and keep purchasing

I am surprised by how little the leaves unfurled during the steep.
