Kusmi Teabag Black Tea 'Earl Grey Smoky'

Tea Information:
Tea: Earl Grey Smoky
Type: Black Tea
Packaging: Teabag
Company: Kusmi
Purchase: Here
Description: Smoky black tea from China flavoured with bergamot.

Earl Grey is a great classic among teas, chosen by the Royal Family of British Monarchy for more than 200 years.

Appreciated for its refreshing and toning notes, it is one of the most drunk teas in the world.

Kusmi has made a smoky version that goes very well with a pastry.

Steep Information:
Amount: 1 teabag
Water: 12 ounces boiling water
Steep Time: a little over 2 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: lapsang souchong (campfire smoke)
Steeped Tea Smell: sweet, lapsang souchong (campfire smoke), bake-y, citrus
Flavor: smokey, bakey, citrus, astringent back tea
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: astringent
Liquor: translucent dark brown

I am not a huge smoke-y fan, but I do love how this combines earl grey into the smoked flavor.

I love the quality of packaging on Kusmi products.

Kusmi Tea Loose Leaf Black Tea 'Prince Vladimir'

Tea Information:
Tea: Prince Vladimir
Type: Black Tea
Packaging: Loose Leaf
Company: Kusmi Tea
Purchase: Here
Description: A blend of Chinese black tea flavored with citrus, vanilla, and spices; this tea is a Kusmi must-have!

A unique blend, the Prince Vladimir Tea was created by Pavel Kousmichoff in 1888 to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the foundation of Russia by Vladimir the Great.

Tasting advice: delicious plain or sweetened.

Steep Information:
Amount: 2 heaping tsp
Water: 500ml filtered 212°F
Tool: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker BTM800XL
Steep Time: 2 minutes
Served: Hot
This does not follow the website's recommendation of 185°F-195°F for 3-4 min

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: vanilla, lemon, citrus, black tea
Steeped Tea Smell: vanilla
Flavor: spiced vanilla black tea, a little astringent and bitter
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: bitter, astringent, lemon
Liquor: translucent dark orange-brown

I bought this when I visited the Kusmi store in NYC, it's a tiny tin part of the Russian sampler.

It could be my preparation method but i don't like the bitterness and astringency, but the mix of vanilla and spices and citrus is interesting and has potential if I play with adding sugar and cream.

Kusmi Loose Leaf Black Tea 'Sweet Love'

Tea Information:
Tea: Sweet Love
Type: Black Tea
Packaging: Loose Leaf
Company: Kusmi
Purchase: Here (Note seems to no longer be available online)
Description: Exquisite spicy blend that stimulates the senses
Ingredients: Black China tea, ginseng and liquorice roots, spices, guarana seeds and pink pepper.

Steep Information:
Amount: 3 tsp, 12.2g
Water: 750ml filtered 212°F
Tool: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker BTM800XL
Steep Time: 2 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: potpourri, floral, citrus, spicy
Steeped Tea Smell: cardamom, pepper
Flavor: black tea
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: spice
Liquor: translucent dark brown

This tea smells spicy, and when you start to sip you only taste the black tea, but as you swallow you are hit with a melody of spices.

I don't not like the tea, but I really don't like the tea either. It's almost a chai flavor but lacking some of the homey spices that would make it my kind of chai.
