Tasting Notes:
From China

If the origin is Fujin it's great, it has the most sweet flavor, use only local pine wood

Second brew is known for a dragonfruit or lychee flavor

The tea was prepared in a purple clay Yixing teapot seasoned for Lapsang Souchong - and so was sweeter for it

Smell: Campfire
Liquor: Translucent brown
Taste: smooth black tea, smoky, sweet
After-taste: smoky

Sorry my notes are so short and cryptic but it was a whirlwind tasting of so much information and flavor!

Rating: I am intentionally not rating these teas as I didn't really have a chance to sit there and sip on them and think whether I would by them again, like to play with them more, although none were awful (1 leaf) or fabulous (4 leaves)

Golden Moon Tea Loose Leaf Black Tea 'lapsang souchong'

Description: Our Lapsang Souchong provides an enchanting and smoky taste that is created by slowly smoking the tea over fresh pine embers. Lapsang Souchong flavor is not overpowering; the taste is sweet and mellow like fine pipe tobacco. The rich tea absorbs the smoky flavor making the tea highly aromatic.

The characteristics of the Lapsang Souchong leaf support the flavor because of the shape and quality. The leaf is large, dark, of Souchong grade and smoked. The fine quality of the Lapsang Souchong leaf supports multiple infusions without sacrificing its unique, high-quality taste and flavor.

We believe our tea is better than other Lapsang Souchong because many others are flavored with strong smoke-flavored oil that tastes too strong and sometimes bitter. Our Lapsang Souchong is very aromatic, but when infused becomes more mellow and smooth.

MilitiaJim was a little excited to have some tea, and grabbed a random Golden Moon sampler pack, so I don't have pictures of the loose leaf.

The reason I do not like lapsang souchong is not the flavor, but the constant fear and anxiety they give me - I keep looking for the fire and panicking that we need to evacuate.

Overall the tea is a sweet smoky smooth black tea with little astringency.

Resteep: Zarafina black-loose-strong = a very weak cup of black tea with smoky hints
