thepuriTea Loose Leaf Black Tea 'Passion Fruit Black Tea'

Tea Information:
Tea: Passion Fruit
Type: Black Tea
Packaging: Loose Leaf
Company: thepuriTea
Purchase: Here
Description: Hot or iced, Passion Fruit Black Tea is a fantastic choice for tea connoisseurs looking for a subtly flavored topical tea and for newer tea drinkers looking for “transitional teas” that bridge the gap between tea blends with strong flavors and pure, unflavored teas. The small black leaves and bits of actual passion fruit have an enticingly topical, sweet aroma with undertones of roasted nuts. The dark rust brew is malty, roasty, sweet and mellow with undertones of tart-sweet passion fruit. Try it hot with breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea foods (like cookies or sponge cakes) or desserts with chocolate, fruit or vanilla. Alternately, try it iced with a little lemon and brown sugar.

Steep Information:
Amount: ~6.4g
Water: 750ml at 212°F
Tool: Breville One-Touch Tea Maker BTM800XL
Steep Time: 3 minutes
Served: Hot

Tasting Notes:
Dry Leaf Smell: strong passion fruit scent, candy like
Steeped Tea Smell: lightly fruity, sweet
Flavor: smooth black tea with hints of sweet fruit
Body: Medium
Aftertaste: hint of fruit, a little astringency
Liquor: dark brown

Added a little sugar and it brought out the fruit flavor, I highly recommend adding a pinch of sugar.

Delicious back tea, but not delicious enough to replace my love for thepuriTea mango black.

Rating: 4/4 leaves

Leaf system:
1=Bleh! not again if it were free
2=Acceptable, if it were free or there were limited other tea options
3=I might purchase this tea from time to time, or select it while out
4=A staple in our cupboard from now on, I will purchase and keep purchasing
